The "human oil residue which is nasty to remove" is lanolin, unless your nose is in a really nasty shape. The stuff is sold by tons for ladies to grease their faces with.

 

Dont worry about it. It doesn't degrade the monitor image (what is there to degrade, in any case?) unless it gets really thick. Then wipe it off with a clean handkerchief. Until then, regard is at a protective covering.

Actually oil is really bad. My nose is very oily... Handkerchief dos not do the job at all. I usually wipe it with some shelite or alcohol. I can not see image properly also... I am thinking of buying LCD shade or Luigi`s case.

But teacher told me that nose oil is good for removing really nasty dirt from lens. I do`nt know If he was joking then.

 

But I guess I am not shooting as much as I should because my M8 looks like still NEW condition. :o
