The Hermès Edition was quite a good-looking camera (it was not fluorescent orange, after all) but my experience of leather straps goes back to the early 1950's, and I do not trust them. Leather is prone to sudden breakage. Also, how do you stuff a stiff strap like that into, say, a Billingham Small Hadley? I use only Domke straps. People who are careful with their monitor glass may note that there is a version of the one-incher without the rotating snaps.

 

The era when Leica produced cameratic abominations without end for potentates with considerably more money than taste, does fortunately seem to be over. I would not be caught dead with anyone of them. Gubbins inside working? Possibly ... I don't think anybody has checked. It is no argument, in any case. A pair of shocking pink velvet trousers would no doubt keep my arse warm, but I would still not be caught dead in them. My Norse ancestors had it right:

On the other hand (see white M8), the production of a camera to turn your stomach would undoubtedly signal the imminent arrival of the M10.
