GavinM Posted November 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My 8.2 has developed a fault in the viewfinder of showing a double image in the focusing zone , can anybody please comment / share similiar experience. I fear that it shall have to go back for repair. As I am now in Tokyo I guess that it can be sent back for repair through the Leica store here ?. Advertisement Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Hi GavinM, Take a look here Double image problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nicoleica Posted November 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2009 Do you mean that the rangefinder patch is no longer aligned vertically? (Showing one image at a different height to the other.) If so, then this should be able to be adjusted quite quickly by a Leica service centre. (Or other camera expert if your camera is no longer under warranty.) Some owners have made this adjustment themselves, but I wouldn't recommend this unless you are comfortable in doing so. If this was a result of dropping, or an impact to the camera though, I'd suggest a trip to Leica would be best, as other components may also be affected. GavinM Posted November 14, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 14, 2009 Your desription is exactly the fault Nicole, many thanks for the guidance and help, with a three day weekend coming up I am desperate to get it fixed and get out to do some shooting here in Tokyo. I will pop into the Leica store here and hopefully they can attend to it through their service centre. A very good weekend to you.
Guest mc_k Posted November 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 15, 2009 you have a backup focusing system (scale on lens)
Guest mc_k Posted November 15, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 15, 2009 you might also try remounting the lens (not likely the problem, but every once in a while)
lanetomlane Posted November 16, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 16, 2009 The Leica Shop in Ginza has a very good repair centre. As you're in Tokyo I would suggest you let them have a look. I would think there's a good chance they would adjust it while you wait. _____________________ Regards, Tom Photography by Tom Lane
