glenjazz Posted November 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. I've been viewing this forum site for a while. Lots of info and interesting discussions here, thank you. I have a question regarding my recently acquired Leica 'Prototype-2' camera. I've just started using it and I find that keeping it in its ever-ready case is quite cumbersome. I dislike the front cover hanging in the way all the time. I have used the camera without the case, just putting it in my pocket, but not having a neck strap makes me a little nervous. I'm tempted to just cut off that front piece. But MAYBE there's a better option to getting a 'half-case' someone here knows about. Will cases for the Leica III series fit this camera? Thanks, Glen

Robert J Posted November 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 15, 2009 Any leica case intended for cameras prior to the introduction of the IIIC will fit your camera. The fronts weren't generally detachable but if you find a suitable case you could remove the front. glenjazz Posted November 16, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted November 16, 2009 jc - Thanks for the link! Robert J - Thanks for you reply. I'll keep my eyes open for an inexpensive case I can take apart. I did find a Bower wrist strap from B&H Photo for $7.00 that I will try in the mean time. If it's too flimsy, I'll just use it on my little digital Canon Elf. Thanks again!! Robert J Posted November 17, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2009 If you use a wrist strap, check frequently to be sure that it is still firmly screwed in.They have been known to unscrew and drop the camera.
glenjazz Posted November 18, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted November 18, 2009 The Bower wrist strap appears to have a rubber bushing between the thumbscrew and the camera bottom. Hopefully that will create enough tension to keep things snug. I WILL check it frequently, though, thanks for the warning Also, I just scored an older Leica case for $10 shipped. I looks like it has possibilities. Much thanks. Glen
