Tenor1 Posted November 29, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Radioshack has a Sandisk Ultra II 2-GB card that folds in half allowing direct access to a USB port on the computer. It was in the blister-pac and hard to see how it actually works. Does anyone know if this is worth buying? It looks a bit fragile for $135.00. Thanks, Carlos Marques

nryn Posted November 29, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2006 These are the only cards I use anymore because I hate bringing around a card reader. I have a 2GB in my M8 and 2 1GB cards in other devices. They're a tad on the slow side but it doesn't affect my shooting at all. I've had one of the 1GB cards for a year or so, and I use it often as an impromptu memory stick. They seem fragile, but if mine hasn't broken, they're probably not as delicate as they seem. One thing--the hinge is a few microns thick on the wrong side, so sometimes I have to lift the card up on one side to get it out of the M8. It's by no means putting undue pressure on anything, so I'm not worried about it at all. I'll probably get another 2GB card at some point.

Tenor1 Posted November 29, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted November 29, 2006 Is the folding card slower than a non-folding one when both are the Ultra II? The regular Ultra II seems to be faster than the card that came with my V-Lux. Regards, Carlos
gdewitt Posted November 29, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 29, 2006 I have a bunch of these. I haven't noticed any fragility. My laptops all have SD slots so I sometimes don't use the USB capability. But USB is faster than SD so I can transfer pictures to a computer much faster using the USB capability. I even carry one on a key chain (they come with a little key fob) for whenever I may need one. As for in-camera speed, the Ultra II is the same speed as far as I can tell in USB or non USB version. They aren't as fast in camera as the Extreme III, my previous favorite, but the USB capability trumps all else for me.
