Seeingeye Posted November 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to Amateur Photographer, there is a possibility that at some stage in the future Ricoh will develop a module for its new GXR system that will allow L and M lenses to be mounted. The Micro 4/3 system has allowed that for a while, but the sensor was not optimised for the lenses, unlike the M8/M9 solution. The GXR having its own sensor in the module would get around that problem. Whilst I have difficulty in seeing real tangible benefits in what Ricoh has created, this is among the more exciting options for me. It could provide the option of a cheaper backup system that some are seeking. MitchoIankov Posted November 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2009 I think the biggest benefit is that it can be done for the masses. I hope Leica take note and provide some sort of sensor replacement so we do not have to pay for the other parts every time. Then probably a choice of sensors (B&W, colour 10MP, 12MP, 20MP, who knows) can be a reality (maybe some third party as well?)
