conorbradshaw Posted November 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm finding it quite difficult to locate any information regarding the specific accessories I want for my D3. Remote Shutter Release The Leica CR-DC1 part would appear to be the obvious choice, but the cable is very short at 30cm and it is not easy to find anymore. Also, I'm not convinced that the item displayed (admittedly on multiple websites) is the actual CR-DC1 as the descriptions I have read say that it has two buttons but the image shows only one.. See attached image. Anyone out there have experience of using the CR-DC1 with the D3? Anyone have good experiences of using other solutions? I'm intrigued by the wireless solution also, but some of these look a bit flimsy... any success stories with the D3?... the Phottix Plato looks good, but I can't find the P6 (Pana/Leica) version on sale anywhere. Review: Phottix Plato 2.4GHz Wireless Remote : Martin Pot - Photography Blog Angle Finder Again, finding it difficult to to figure out which units, if any, will fit/work on the D3. In my research so far I haven't been able to locate a Leica part and some of the third party solutions look a bit plasticity and flimsy... what I'm really looking for in terms of build quality is something like the R Angle Finder, but to fit the D3. Anyway, can anybody out there recommend an angle finder?... my preference would be one that operated at 45 degrees as well as 90 degrees... not asking for much, am I? Saltspring Posted November 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2009 Hi conorbradshaw, I have a Leica CR-DC1, which I purchased second hand about six months ago. The cable is actually about 1 metre long. I recall reading something about two buttons too but I suspect it is more likely translates into two steps similar, to half pressing shutter release for focusing which it does. I am quite happy with mine and use it on my D3, D2 and Panasonic L10 with no problems. Hope this helps. cheers, Douglas
ASpes Posted November 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2009 Given they are twin sisters, on the D/3 you can use the Pana L1 remote, DMW-RSL1, or any item suitable for the latter, things sometimes seem easier to be found if you look for them under that name. Btw the B&H info box for that item says it's 2.5m long. As for the angle finder, I believe you can use the Oly "VA-1 VariMagni Right Angle Finder". I do not have it actually, but as the Oly E-330 eyecup fits the D/3, I expect their AF will fit too, via the E-330 adapter ring. Olympus - VA-1 AFAIK both items are currently available at the usual B&H if you do not find them locally. Hope this helps.
