R8 Exposure Override

If I set my R8 to the selective metering setting, take a reading and then adjust the exposure override in the + direction the scale in the view finder shows the exposure correction in the - direction. This only occurs in the selective meter setting. In multiple and integral metering the override is correct in the view finder. + moves the correction in the + direction. Is this the way it should work or am I doing something wrong or a problem with my camera? The above is true for the - settings.

I think you have one problem in your R8.

Mine works diferent fron yours.

In selective mode if I turn the exposure override to + they move to that direction if I move to - they move to minus in the scale.

Plase check your camera in the near Leica agency.

Good luck,

Is it perhaps you are using manual expsoure, setting your exposure by zeroing the meter, then when you move the exposure comp to +1, it is telling you your manually set exposure is off by a stop and you need to open up the lens a stop to zero the meter again. What you are getting confused is the viewfinder display in the manual mode is used to set the exposure by zeroing the meter. Your + exposure compensation will show on the back display. On auto, exposure compensations are shown in the display as you expect, just to remind you they are set and in what direction. If it did this in Manual, it would be confusing in regards to zeroing the display to set the manual exposure.

I took out my old R8 and confirmed what I just wrote above. There is nothing wrong with your camera.
