John Maio Posted November 29, 2006 Share #21 Posted November 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) nice frame from 5D John. is that a magenta hat that guys wearing ? Riley No, its a black bowler, but, as with most theatrical lighting. there are multi colored lights above the actors. Several are blue, others with orange Roscoes, and so forth. You are seeing some of those colors reflected off the hats. You can also notice a blueish cast in the shadow of one of the actor's arms against the white shirt of the other. By the way - ISO 1600, f/2.8, No noise reduction at all. and AWB was used.

sungnee Posted November 29, 2006 Share #22 Posted November 29, 2006 If I may just make an observation. The company's current CEO is an American, and an IT person. That is probably why the word "robust" was used. This word is used by I.T. people a lot, to mean that the computer program (software, firmware) is well-written and therefore virtually trouble-free (they call it bug-free). I think the announcement bears the hallmark of American companies: aimed fist at protecting the company from potential litigation and only second at pleasing the customer. I suspect that is why the German version of the statement seems to be worse (because the original would have been written in English and translated into German). A cultural clash. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 29, 2006 Share #23 Posted November 29, 2006 Yes, that´s exactly what I had in mind when I read the German version of the letter. Nobody seems to have been brave enough to correct Stephen Lee´s original draft. It´s too hard to fight with a newly installed General ... stunsworth Posted November 29, 2006 Share #24 Posted November 29, 2006 Ok, I confess I'm missing something here. People have demanded a solution to the problems and Leica have offered one. Now we seem to be arguing about the way the media release accompanying this proposed fix has been worded. Isn't it the fix and it's effectivness that's the important issue? Yes Steve, the effect of the fix is important, but so to will be the way it is affected! I'm referring here to "time" and "cost".
