i find the shot of the grave stone and grass quite nice. is it just me, or is the bohek not as 'smooth' rather, it's gives a bit of a 'swirl' type of effect? that's what i see anyway. i heard the older 50 lux gives a similar feel to the photo.

I deliberately increased to contrast to get some drama. I think this affected the smoothness. Normally the rendering is very smooth. This is wide open from around 1.5m.

Alexc, beautiful set of zenfolio! Do you have a flickr account? Would love to follow your work.

Thank you for you comment. I don't have a flickr account yet. One day i will. For now I just post some of my images in zenfolio mostly for my family, to justify my little hobby.

I just did my first test shot of my pre-asph Nocti on my M9. Focus was right on and my result in obtaining focus quickly was better than on my M8. I use this hat a lot for testing, when I can see good texture in the white circle at f1.4 it tells me when my lux lens are on the right track, so I'm quite pleased at this result at f1. The first is already cropped a bit just to reduce size, but shows the bokeh well. The 2nd is a 100% crop showing the point of focus. This lens will get used much more on the M9 than it was on the M8, as I much prefer the true 50mm FL. Same goes for my 50 lux asph. best...Peter

I don't like expensive cars, hence i can buy things that i consider important for me

S2 is too much for me, i tried it it's great, heavy and huge, probably the best for studio work

on the side note, now I know i need to practice how to focus this lens fast and accurately

Happy Halloween! - a set on Flickr

Brother, you made the fatal mistake of confessing that you actually bought a $10,000 Noctilux along with you $7000 M9! If you haven't realised by now, understand that 90% of the people on this forum aren't interested in the fact that you may have worked bloody hard to be in a position to afford that luxury. They aren't interested in the fact that you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth.

Whilst they would give anything to be in a position to buy what they want, they will almost certainly always shoot you down and discredit you for being able to do something nice for yourself.

It's one of the main reasons why I seldom post to any forums anymore except for when I'm up late at night, the kids have finally gone to bed and I'm in the mood for some vitriolic sport at the expense of those who take themselves way too seriously.

My advice to you, enjoy your gear and buy everything that puts a smile on your face, but NEVER let on that you actually own anything over the price of second-hand 35mm Summicron pre-ASPH.

You are right. This was shot from very close distance and low angle. May be it is just because of the angle? I did not notice this, now I see this, but is does not bother me.

If it doesn't bother you, fine, but it is strange. Also, my school geometry tells me that the low angle makes it even more strange, not less. I would try to make some controlled test shots to see if the phenomenon is reproducible. If it is, Leica would have an expensive guaranty case to deal with.

I have had a chance to take a couple of pictures with the new Nocti, and had no problems with focus wide open. I presume Leica have put enough hightech into the lens to avoid focus shift.

Actually this place isn't as bad for that as some others you may have experienced. At least, I haven't seen much of that kind of behavior here.

It's actually a pretty great community, even allowing for people who can afford expensive cameras and lenses ;-) Post some shots and you'll see. And welcome, Seal (song).

I've only been here a few weeks and it does seem like it happens anytime someone brings up the Nocti.
