It appears to be identical to the Epson 3880 that is sold in the UK. Does anyone know if the printers are in fact the same, and whether I would have any problems using it in the UK (ie. do they do crazy stuff like make incompatible ink cartridges) Thanks, David Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I dont know if the mains plug is the same but that is probably a minor issue. Epson are very shortly to bring out the new 3880 so you might be able to get some good deals in the Uk on the 3880. It is quite a large and heavy printer to bring on an aeroplane. The 3800 is a wonderful printer. Jeff I'm pretty sure it's the same printer - the going price in Taiwan is about £700... so that pays for a lot of excess baggage (vs. £1100 here). BTW - if you fly BA you can pre-purchase additional checked bags up to a maximum of 10, for about £72 per bag. Very handy if you are relocating or bringing kit with you. Jeff Ah - sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought that the 3850 was the Taiwan equivalent of the new 3880. No mention there of the 3880 at all, which seemed strange. Oddly enough BHphoto lists the 3880 at about £750, vs £1150 as Epson UK's list price. Epson Stylus Pro 3800, Specifications - Product Information - Epson America, Inc. Anyway, just theoretical for me...my 3800 is humming along here with US voltage...great product.
