fursan Posted October 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could someone please let me know the settings for Vuescan batch 35mm film scans, without pausing after each frame for user input ( save, edit ). I just want to load the frames, give the sequential file saving numbers, go away for coffee and have vuescan complete the batch scan. I have read the guide, many times..but i just don't get it. thank you for your help.
Advertisement Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hi fursan, Take a look here Vuescan.. Help!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted October 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2009 Try this (Coolscan V - your options may vary depending on the scanner you have) You need to batch scan all the frames, auto scan a "scan", not a "preview" and auto save each frame
andybarton Posted October 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2009 You also need to have the auto file name function on in the Outputs tab. Mine is set up thus "/Users/andy 1/Scans/ @.tif" It's the "@" that's the important bit - you can add your own text before that, but leave a space before the "@"
stunsworth Posted October 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2009 An alternative to using a '@' is to use a '+'. This adds an incrementing number to each scanned image. I use this because I have a structure to a scanned image's name XXYYZZZNN where XX is the year YY is the film type, ZZZ is the film number of that type I've scanned this year, and NN is the frame number. So 09CN01521 would be a film taken in 2009, it's colour negative (I used CR for slide film and BW for black and while), it's the 15th colour negative film I've taken in 2009 and it's the 21st scanned frame. So in the output file name box I'd have 09CN015+ You can see more details of the automatic numbering here... Output tab

stunsworth Posted October 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2009 I'm not sure that what Andy and myself described will work with a flatbed scanner, we both have dedicated film scanners that you feed a film strip into.
