Suede Posted October 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) This may sound an inane question but will someone please elaborate.... What does a connotation such as "6-bit encoded" mean? Or what is an "encoder"? Thanks in advance.
Advertisement Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Hi Suede, Take a look here "Encoding". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
alifie Posted October 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2009 It is the practice of putting some black and white blobs on the bayonet of a lens so the digital Ms can correct for various defects (fall off etc.) of the lens. These are read by an array of photocells on the cameras mount. Totaly backwards compatible with film cameras, and now we have the full frame M9 there is no fear of lenses cutting down on their coverage.
Suede Posted October 28, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 28, 2009 Thanks for that. Evidently this was not an appropriate question for the Film Forum.
