hammam Posted October 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those of you who have coded the CV 28/2 Ultron, what coding equivalent did you use? I could find codings for the f:1.9 Ultron, or the 3.5 Skopar (Leica 28/2 Asph equivalent), but not for the f:2 Ultron. Thanks. Also, a strange thing happened. I tried coding he CV 28, but inadvertently coded my Zeiss 35/2 instead. When I took a photo afterwards and replayed it, the «Info» showed... 35 mm, not 28, though the code WAS that of the CV 28/1.9. With «Lens detection» on. How do you explain that? Is it because the frameline sort of «overrules» the coding when in contradiction?

I presume the Zeiss 35/2 brings up the 35mm frameset. The same code doesn't work for both, but maybe one bit was mis-recognized or something like that. With respect to the Ultron, I think the first two things to try would be the same coding as the 28/1,9, i.e. the 28 Cron, and if that doesn't work well, the older 28/2,8 pre-ASPH (11809). The 28/2.8 ASPH is likely to be more highly corrected for vignetting than the Ultron. Sean Reid might have a suggestion as well.
rjans Posted October 27, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2009 I used the D-Coder kit for M series Lenses and coded the Ultron like Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 Asph. No problems, works perfect. Best

Ecar Posted October 27, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 27, 2009 Cron 28 ASPH worked for me too.
Alnitak Posted October 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have coded it the same as the 28 'Cron ASPH and it works perfectly. That seems to be the consensus. It's a fabulous lens, BTW.

hammam Posted October 28, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted October 28, 2009 I did the same. It works. Took several tries, though. Thanks.
mzcloud Posted October 30, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 30, 2009 Do you know what kind of marker the coding pens are. I have found that I need a new one as the its drying up

I have found that I need a new one as the its drying up It seems that the best one is the Sharpie felt pen. Because of the groove in the mount, however, I've coded my Ultron 28/2 using a thin brush and black enamel for plane models.
