abrewer Posted November 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Watching the football games this afternoon on Fox, I saw on several occasions a TV trailer for the movie "Blood Diamond" featuring Jennifer Connelly shooting what looks like a 135mm on a Leica body. I looked at their website (click "Gallery" link) and sure enough she's shooting an M7 (red dot concealed), this time with what looks like a 28 mm ASPH. Blood Diamond Thanks. Advertisement Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hi abrewer, Take a look here Movie "Blood Diamond" M7 Sighting. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
abrewer Posted November 27, 2006 Author Share #2 Posted November 27, 2006 Nope. My mistake...Canadian 35. And after a little more research, I now think it's an M6, not an M7 here. Note to self: keep left eye open! Note to Jennifer: move index finger forward! Thanks. Allan Welcome, dear visitor! rob_x2004 Posted November 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2006 Allan I shall have to burn you copies of my matched collectors set of Captain Scarlet. Paul uses an M679 Chrome in the Paris Fashions episode, and of course Leica make all Spectrums rangefinder binoculars and Mysteron detectors. abrewer Posted November 27, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted November 27, 2006 Hello Allan, Old news old man... I added the "Blood Diamond" movie reference to the FAQ last week :?) Leica FAQ - Leica Spotting & at the Movies Damn! Scooped again! Andrew, is this movie already playing in your area? Any comments from the commercial jewelers about it? It's already created some flak here even though it doesn't premiere until another ten days. Thanks. Allan
andybarton Posted November 27, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Note to Jennifer...open right eye as well. Good job she's not a left-eye shooter... I reckon, she can be forgiven the use of the end of her forefinger to operate the shutter - the use of the first knuckle is very un-intuitive and one needs to be told that this might be a good idea to try, otherwise, most people would never think of doing it this way. It's not something I would have even thought about unless I'd seen it on this forum. It's definitely not something that I would do automatically, even now.

Guest hammertone Posted November 27, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 27, 2006 And after a little more research, I now think it's an M6, not an M7 M6 is much more approriate for J. Connelly, of course: both started their career in 1984. I must admit that was also the last time I saw the actress in cinema (Leone's unforgettable Once Upon a Time in America). abrewer Posted November 27, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted November 27, 2006 ... I must admit that was also the last time I saw the actress in cinema (Leone's unforgettable Once Upon a Time in America). Ahhh...you have some catching up to do. Grab "House of Sand and Fog" and "A Beautiful Mind" at the video store. You're in for a treat. Thanks. Allan
nemeng Posted November 27, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 27, 2006 Andrew, is this movie already playing in your area? Any comments from the commercial jewelers about it? Not yet. I only saw the preview when I went to see "The Prestige" a couple of weeks ago.

rob_x2004 Posted November 29, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 29, 2006 Hey Andrew, you dont seem to list the set backdrop of "The New Inventors" with its chrome, nor Nats videoclip for Carnival, though Allan I suspect she fakes "faking it" for the camera and which would be hardly surprising given her family backround. Way too familiar with the chromie, a goofy eyed artisitic type.
nemeng Posted November 29, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 29, 2006 Hey Andrew, you dont seem to list the set backdrop of "The New Inventors" with its chrome, That's the ABC Australia's TV series "The New Inventors", where they show a photo of a M3 on a background panel. It's not in the FAQ (yet) because I haven't found a way to link to it in a permanent way. A link to the current abc.net.au site will break the minute the show's off the air. nor Nats videoclip for Carnival, though Allan I suspect she fakes "faking it" for the camera and which would be hardly surprising given her family backround. Way too familiar with the chromie, a goofy eyed artisitic type. Er, I've been unable to translate this. Any thoughts from others what Rob is trying to say here?... :?) rob_x2004 Posted November 29, 2006 Share #15 Posted November 29, 2006 Natalie Marchant, album Tigerlilly track 5 Carnival video clip for TV Chrome M probably 2 or 3. Unlike the promo shots of high profile actors faking using Leicas, she uses it continually through the clip and without missing a beat as she strolls NY to photograph people, street life and scenes. She is a left eye shooter, and doesnt need to squint. I think I read somewhere her father and brother are photographers, and that she has exhibited. Havent researched that much though. Stunning clip, even if you dont know what a Leica is, almost b&w art house in places, definitely street.
rob_x2004 Posted November 30, 2006 Share #16 Posted November 30, 2006 Uhhh...When I say NY, I mean it looks like NY, well from an Australians perspective. Definitely isnt Sydney.
abrewer Posted November 30, 2006 Author Share #17 Posted November 30, 2006 Natalie Marchant, album Tigerlilly track 5 Carnival video clip for TV Chrome M probably 2 or 3. That girl definately knows how to handle the hardware! M5? Just judging by the size, looks relatively large in her hands. Natalie Merchant Carnival Video Link How we got from Jennifer to Natalie is beyond me! Thanks. Allan
kdemas Posted November 30, 2006 Share #18 Posted November 30, 2006 Allan, An M5 it might be. Nice call. Kent
nemeng Posted November 30, 2006 Share #19 Posted November 30, 2006 Natalie Merchant: "Carnival" video clip. M5? Just judging by the size, looks relatively large in her hands. wattsy Posted November 30, 2006 Share #20 Posted November 30, 2006 M5? Just judging by the size, looks relatively large in her hands. I think she just has small hands. As Rob suggests, it looks like an M3 or M2.
