I am interested in a 21mm lens to be used on M8 due to the effective focal length of 28mm.. The options I am considering will be 21mm zeiss biogon new or 21mm elmarit asph used. There is also 21mm lux, which is a dream lens of course...

I checked reidreviews, however I would like to see some colored pictures and 100% crops wide open. I would not mind if you compare it to 21 lux at comparable apertures, especially at f/2.8 and f/4 as well... That comparison will be greatly appreciated in fact... :)

If the 21 lux wasn't that expensive... :(

Its always useful to look at many sources but there are indeed crops of pictures made wide open and seen at actual (100%) size in those three reviews. Look for the ice. <G>

Why not try the 21/4P Color-Skopar? I found that it was just the ticket for those occasional shots that could not be covered by a 28. A bargain at $420, and at f/8 I bet you will find it acceptable.

If you find that you are using it, but that it falls short of your needs, then you can sell it for little loss, and get yourself the new Leica 18mm.

I have the Voigtlander 15/4.5 VM and the 21/4P, and the Leica 21-24-28 viewfinder so that I don't have to change viewfinders on the M8.

You can also get them coded by DAG or Sherry Krauther. The 15 codes to a WATE.

Thank you for all the replies. I could not check here before. I really appreciate your comments.

I did not have much time to check, so I could not find a nice comparison between Zeiss biogon and Leica elmarit 21mm wide open. There is also a slower Zeiss f/4.5 I guess, which seems to be quite good. I need to check a few colored pictures first though...

@Mauribix: Do you mind me asking, why you are selling the lens? Anything negative to mention about it?

The 21 Elmarit is a superb lens - here are some done with mine on my M8. It's depth of field is very wide and sometimes it's almost autofocus ! Brilliant !
