Advertisement (gone after registration)

In the M9 FAQ available on the Leica web site, the following sentence appears:

 

"The current LEICA APO-TELYT-M 135mm/f3.4 will not be available in a 6-bit coded version."

 

That seems pretty definitive:-).

Ah, but for the folks seeking a change of heart, remember that at one time Leica felt that a digital M was a non-starter as well! :p

My current game plan is to restore my 135 ApoTelyt to its original mount (bringing up the 135 framelines) but to have Malcolm Taylor machine slots so that I can experiment with coding it as an elmarit - or leave it uncoded for the moment and just select it manually. You never know, Leica may end up being persuaded to give us the correct code for the Apo Telyt one day (I remain an optimist :)). As it is, I find it useful when organising work to know which lens was used (and in LR 3 this is fully recognised!)
