3rdtrick Posted October 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I joined a few years ago when I had the D-Lux-3 but have not been around much lately but that should change because I just picked up my black M9 last night. I am in South East Pennsylvania and bought it locally. I have the 28 2.8 ASPH, an older 90 2.0 and should have the 50 1.4 ASPH by the weekend. An event like this probably deserves a day off from work but I was on vacation for the previous two weeks. I do not know if my 90 is from Canada, it was new old stock from my local store and the price was right. It just says Summicron-M 1:2/90 E 55. The only difference I can tell between a German and Canadian Leica Lens, is that the German Lenses tend to have part numbers and the Canadian Lenses tend to not.... In terms of optics, none.... Overall quality, fit, craftsmanship, no difference. Many lenses were only made in one or the other, a few were made in both... but again, all good. Anyway, here are some pics... This was the very first picture I took with my M9 and 28 Elmarit Freddy bought my D700 to help me get the M9 Actually this is a crop of the first photo. Trains My trip to Leica USA. I am enjoying the M9 but it was kinda tacky to have to return a $7000 camera for adjustment. At least they did it while I waited and I had a nice day trip. May I ask what the process is for walking into the service center and getting the work done while one waits? Did you call a main Leica support number or a local service center number? I just returned from my first trip with my M9 (Northern Italy). I'm planning to post some shots and my thoughts about the camera (vs. carrying around a full-frame DSLR) shortly -- in short, I'm a fan. 3rdtrick Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted November 5, 2009 Yes Bat, it was Jim Thorpe. I am not sure if the Chevy belonged to Mr Leica, it had a vanity tag on the back "HEKTOR'... Scott, My dealer set up the appointment for me but they seemed to be set up for "while you wait" because they had a nice waiting area with magazines and literature to look at.
