schimmey Posted October 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi. I have an Epson R2400 printer find I am often replacing Epson cartridges that are not actually empty because of the chip system used. I have had a look about a chip resetter & have seen a few so thought I would ask if anyone has one for the R2400 - or any other - and what they think. Thanks, Paul

wparsonsgisnet Posted October 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2009 If you run a cart dry, you can cause problems. Have you considered a CIS (continuous inking system)?
schimmey Posted October 15, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 15, 2009 Hi Bill. Thanks for that advice. I did not know that. What kind of problems could it cause - serious mechanical ones or superficial ones with no damage to the printer? Have not really considered CIS but have had look & it comes to cost, space & usage. I do not print every day - or even every week and so there can be periods when the printer is not used for quite a while. When I go back to switch it on a lot of ink is wasted cleaning preparing etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul
Shootist Posted October 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 17, 2009 Yes buy a better printer or at least one that fits your needs better.
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 18, 2009 Good idea. Depending on your budget, the larger Epsons use bigger carts, and also offer other options. For example, I miss the roll feed option on the 2400 that I have. The 3800, for example, uses large carts, does roll feed, and has an additional black so that the b/w on the 3800 is reportedly quite nice. The extra black saves changing the carts and avoids the subsequent head check/flush. You could sell your 2400; I have sold Epsons on eBay. It works well
