I did WB these thn tried the leica M8 profile that is in C1 . Than i tried the Epson RD1-s profile . Look at the difference. Guest guy_mancuso Posted November 25, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2006 Now Jamies is not working because it is not profiled for the IR cut filter , so we can eliminate that but the M8 with the IR filter has a overall yellow /cyan cast , But the RD1s and the Leica R9 profile bring back the blue sky very well and the skin tones are getting a little more neutral. I think folks should try this on a couple images and see what you think. Now I have said all along and Sean has too we need a new profile with the IR filters but in the mean time this maybe not to bad to try out and see. Kind of like taking the same scene with several different film types. On my screen here, I think I prefer the skin tones in the slightly desaturated M8 profile on this image, but I'd sure like to see more. In a portrait like this I can see room for several artistic interpretations. I myself am a bit (too much of) a tweaker in C1, depending on the image series. Even with the DMR profile, which is pretty good, I will play around slightly with the color. By the way, did your clients know about the M8's IR issue when they picked out all those shades of magenta and purple to wear, just to mess with you??? Did you try to convert a non-filtered leica image that had some magenta cast on it? Another interesting software is lightzone 2. I use it all the time. Since I don t have a M8 and cannot check them with that camera. You can get a fully operational Demo of Lightzone 2 which accepts DNG file and I guess Leica M8. Enjoy and keep us posted. I may run out and shoot some shots of a little cowboy town after another family pic. Not a big fan of this type of work but there friends so what are you going to do. How about the squares on the grand-dad's sweater -- looks like they might have been a combo of maroon and black or dark gray. Without knowing the answer, it looks to me like if those were all maroon, the R9 profile seems decent with a saturation tweak. If those were all blacks then Jamie's is the only one even close, but needs added saturation, a touch of yellow and maybe a little less cyan. Tough call without being at your monitor with you... More looking at sky and skin tones here but I may find a shot that is easier to see what may work. LOL Seriously I hate to see if i shot this without the filter , God knows what would have happened .
