To get things in perspective, I wanted to see what the images look like without any special profiles. The lens a 50 1.5 Summilux, wide open.

No special setup. Shot as jpgs, 320 ISO, just daylight.

It's obvious to me that these files are special. I haven't realy started to test the camera, Will Perlis and I just grabbed a few snapshots.

I'm impressed and have the feeling, that although the compaints have been highly justified, the camera still shines.

I, for one, suspect that if indeed Leica has banished the green gobs and the streaking, the M8 will be a winner!

So let's look at the M8 in this light.

For most of my work I use Canon glass on my Canon DSLR's. For certain special work, I use only Distagons. I still love my Canons!

I see no difference with the Leica. I expect in some situations we'd never need filters.

If one feels that purples might be present in flash, clothing or street signs, sure, use a filter. It's something we have to fit in to the reality of modern technology.

So what good images do you have to share pretty much as is out of the camera, even without profiles?

Nice stuff, Asher. Tell me, did you grow those lenses yourself? They look great! ;)

Ho,

Glad you like the special fruit. I wish money would grow on trees like that!

It just seemed to need the extra fruit for the happiness of thanksgiving. It looks as if I may get 3 M8 bodies! A bit early to decide, but on thanksgivng one develops a big appetite.

I'll have to see how all my testing goes.
