Digilux 3 RAW - Pansonic L1K RAW - Adobe Lightroom

Hi All,

Something interesting. I assumed the RAW file format between the Digilux 3 and the Panasonic L1 would be interchangable in Adobe Lightroom. Not the case, and I am surprised... Adobe says that Lightroom supports the Pansonic L1 but does not mention the Digilux 3.... and when I tried to load D3 RAW files into Lightroom it did not recognize them.... Any thoughts?

Cheers. Terry.

Are you using the latest Adobe camera RAW? 3.6 I think it's called. I think I had to install that to get Lightroom to recognise the trial RAW shots I took.

Yes, I had the same thought and just to make sure re-downloaded ACR 3.6 without any success. It reads the L1 RAW files without any problem but not the Digilux 3 files. I can only assume that there is something different between these two twins RAW files (Genetics who knows?)

Cheers. Terry.

That's strange Terry, Next point - are you using the Beta4 of Lightroom? I checked just now to make sure and the 4 RAW files I took on a D3 on a dealer day are definitely in Lightroom!

Obscure maybe - but are you on a PC or a Mac? Could be a slight difference between Lightroom versions.

Also try converting the RAWs to DNGs (Adobe converter) and see if that works.

Let us know.

Thank you, all very good suggestions. I am using a Mac Beta 4.1 lightroom - just re-downloaded it to make sure and still no luck. I have not tried the Adobe converter but will try that for sure. This is where I wish Leica would have choosen DNG for the D3 as they did for the M8. No such luck.

Cheers. Terry.

Thank you I've had the same problem with my IMac, Lightroom Beta 4, and DigiLux 3 raw files. I'll try the Adobe Converter.

I am trialing a Leica D-Lux 4 ... I tried to import Leica RAW images into Lightroom 2.1 and LR could not "see" the RAW files (only the jpegs)... is there an inherent incompatibility here? has anyone got some advice?

Lightroom/Photoshop don't currently support raw files from the camera. You need to wait for the ACR update from Adobe.

The Dpreview of the Panasonic version of the camera had screen shots showing they were using a beta of ACR 5.2, so it shouldn't be too far off. I'd expect the Leica support to arrive at the same time.

And likely require an upgrade to CS4 to use ACR 5.2. As much as I'd like to get away from Capture One, I'm going to hold out against Adobe's extortion for as long as possible. Here's hoping Apple delivers Aperture/OSX support in the near term.

Maybe, but you could always run them through the free Adobe Raw Converter, which I'd expect to be updated at the same time.

Which would convert them to DNG? That's a good idea. I've never used this tool. Does it have a batch function?

Your question has been answered twice now Ken. A third time isn't really necessary, is it?
