Hi all, So was walking around the woods today and went to take a photo of some cows only to discover my eyepiece had fallen off somewhere. Retraced my steps but of course, no luck. I've been frantically searching the web for help and it seems like this has happened to a few people and the consensus is to either contact Leica or DAG. But before I do that, I just wanted to make 100% sure that this is what's happened. I've attached a photo below. Could someone with more technical knowhow please confirm that it is simply a case of the eyepiece having unscrewed and fallen off and that it's a simple job to replace it when I source the part? If anyone knows of a good place to source this, I'd also be especially grateful. I'm based in London but in Italy at the moment. Naturally, I'm super bummed out and desperate to get this fixed and back shooting again! Thanks!

Thought I'd start a "fun" thread about HOW, WHERE, WHEN you lost a Leica Lens Cap for your valuable lenses. Also, whether you replaced the cap with a factory original, a generic replacement or left the lens exposed. I'll start us off: I have several Leica Lenses and over the years have lost several hoods, caps (front and back), but the way I lost my 50mm Summarit-M f2.5 cap was ridiculous. Last September (2018), I decided to take my trusty M8.2 on a golf round because the course we were playing was very scenic (Audubon Society Sanctuary rated). After playing 8 holes and snapping some nice photos along the way, I approached the 9th green and realized I had no ball marker, but I did have my metal hood rectangular cap and marked my ball with it. I went back to the cart to grab another less obtrusive marker and while I was doing so, one of the foursome remarked my ball with a coin and threw the hood cap into a wetlands area near the green. Just tossed it away thinking it was debris !! Well, that was a $48 piece of debris. He laughed it off when I told him what the cost was. He didn't laugh however, when I sent him the Adorama receipt for it--he still hasn't paid it--doubt he will, but he knows not to fool with my Leica kit anymore.... Anyway: what's your story?

Hello everybody I just purchased a M5 in very good condition at Leica Store Beaumarchais in Paris. This one has been modified to work with 1,5 v batteries. I tried to use Varta V625U/LR9 batteries, but theses ones seem to be too thick to close the battery compartiment. Did someone experienced similar problems with this kind of batteries ? And what do you recommend to solve the problem ? Thanks in advance for your help ! Bernard Tribondeau
