johnbuckley Posted September 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M8 for Landscape Photography thread is one of the most fun, and useful, threads this forum has had, mostly because it has brought out examples of people's work. In that spirit, how about a portrait thread? Below are monks from a monastery in Wangdi, Bhutan, M8 and 35 Summilux. Let's go. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest s.m.e.p. Posted September 15, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2007 I think for some people it´s to complicated to check that there´s a photo forum. BTW this is no portrait, it´s a group photo. Portrait with telelenses is very difficult with the M8 because of the small frames and focusingproblems, I think that´s why we don´t see many real good portraits here. Stefan - this is an invitation for M8 photographs of people -- portraits or otherwise to be posted. The landscape thread made clear that the M8 is a superb landscape camera, and that there is significant talent on this forum. Again, let's see it. Riccis Posted September 15, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2007 Do the images below fall within the portrait category? You may have seen them in another thread I posted, they are from the M8 and the 50 lux shot from the hip... not perfect, but I am very happy with the outcome... Regards, Riccis

ChrisC Posted September 15, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 15, 2007 ...... this is no portrait, it´s a group photo...... Sfefan - I think I must have missed school when that law was taught. John's picture is a group portrait made in a appropriate setting, for me it's considerably more interesting than yet another head and shoulders shot extolling the sharpness of 75 or 90 lenses. ................. Riccis Posted September 15, 2007 Share #14 Posted September 15, 2007 IMHO, a portrait does not have to be a close up of a person. I want people to see the image below as either a portrait of the boy in the center or a scene from this couple's wedding day... it's all about giving each viewer an open canvas for them to interpret an image based on mood, relationship to the couple or even self awareness... Cheers, Riccis
