Well done. Your example is spot on. Your subject cooperated too.

Cooperated, I wish, perhaps just exhausted from running round all day.

Mladen,

Thanks.

How far can you focus that way?

Great shot!

Visoflex 3 is acting as extension ring:-

APO Telyt 280mm f4 - focus range between 4 - 9+ feet (1.2 - 2.8 meters)

APO Elmarit 180mm f2.8 - focus range between 3 - 4 feet (0.9 - 1.2 meters)

Mladen,

Gorgeous shot.

Many thanks. I just verified the distance

with my Nikon camera. It's perfect for taking pictures of hummingbirds.

And I don't have to Leitax the lens first. Cool!

Thanks again.

Thanks. What a lovely vibrant flower taken with a lovely lens. I have 3 examples of it and cannot decide which I like the best. Guess I'll keep all three. I also have the 180/2.8 Elmarit-R, but the APO Elmarit-R just takes your breath away.

I find the STA ! #14636 with a RRS 82S is the perfect item for tripod coupling with the APO 180/2.8 due to its nice long area between f stop ring and DOF scale.

Hi Mladen,

Well, that APO lens can't err. Which particular R/M adapter, by the way?

Paul

I got adapter from favourite Scottish Leica dealer for £49.99 new, it is engraved LR-LM JAPAN, well made but no brand. It brings 50/75mm frame lines only ;-(((

Couple of images especially created for gearheads; 180mm lens is fitted with Burzynski lens collar (part # 033080-40570) while 280mm lens is fitted with KIRK Arca-Swiss plate. R-L adapter is non branded allegedly made in JAPAN.

Not all dirt is on the sensor some of it is on the wall :o

Beautiful pictures and thanks for posting equipment shots.

I was thinking of selling my Visoflex but I'll keep it now. This looks like an R solution, curious why Leica never fired up the remanufacture of the Visoflex.

re Burzynski - does anyone have experience of this:

Isarfoto BURZYNSKI Macromount LEICA Universal - Tripod Collars and Supports - Tripod and Accessories - Accessories

I think it might be exactly what I'm looking for for the R 80-200 f4. I have access to one of the rare Leica made R to M adapters but without a tripod mount it's not useful for jobs where I want to use a monopod or tripod. Grateful for any comments.

Chris,

This is a variation on a support package RRS put together for me years ago:

Lens Support Pkg, dual Quick-Release - CB-YS-QR-Pkg - Kit Configuration Page

Mine differs in that the camera is supported on the back and the lens is supported on the front by the Y support. Rather cumbersome and not an easy setup, I wouldn't use this in the field unless I dedicate a camera and lens to this specifically. The items in the package are useful in other ways.

The Burzynski collar is shown in the photograph of the 180 2.8 APO above . It is a superb product exceptionally well made . Can take forever to get one and the freight is crazy expensive . Pretty sure the Leica STA-1 also works (was made for the 100APO ) but its plastic . I ve had one on my 180 APO since I bought it about 6 years ago . Highly recommended .

Chris,

That is exactly the one as on my Elmarit 180mm. Manual I got with the collar states exactly as ISARPHOTO web site, it covers APO 100 & 180mm lenses as well as 80-200 f4 Leica/Kyocera zoom. Be mindful it only works in landscape orientation.

Collar could be out of stock due to demise of R system but that was before new M hit the headlines, perhaps some gentle pressure on ISARPHOTO could bring it back.

MANY thanks for the clarification... I fear it won't do the job for me as what I want is one which allows lens rotation. Looks like I'll just hang on for the Leica R>M which MUST arrive some day! At least I'm now not going to be tempted to buy something that won't do the job...

Chris-Just tried the Leica STA-1 on my 80/200 f4. If you fit it over the red dot to the lens mount end of the lens then the f stop is blocked. You must loosen each time you want to change f stop. Guess you could remove red mounting dot which would give complete movement of f stop ring and allow for portrait or horizontal work. I put a RRS 82S QR plate on mine and it works very well. Also it has 90 degree indicators which come in handy.

Of course it works without problem on the APO 180/2.8 and the macro 100/2.8.

I say one went on eBay a few months ago for around 50-60 pounds.

THanks for the various comments. I think I'll have to depend on the Leica R>M when it comes, and get used to using a ball head for switching from landscape to portrait. I've done it before, so can certainly manage again... The other trick will be to do what Wilson Laidlaw's done with an adapted Canon mount (a GREAT deal cheaper than current prices for the STA-1... I do have to say I wish Leica had thought this through better....

Chris,

are you refering to an adaptator made by Wilson Laidlaw to adapt canon FD lens on Leica M?

I'd be very interested in that (macro and long lenses), where can I find the information?

Cheers

Cyrille

I have bought a Canon FD (lens) to M (body) adapter just a few weeks ago: Kipon

Adapter for Canon FD to Leica M Ricoh GXR A12 adapter RF uncoupled (Product number: 250927078590)

There is no coupling of any sort but it appears to work quite well on the M9.

Edit: Sorry, I should have written that it works well on the M, not the M9.
