chris_tribble Posted March 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) A nice little piece by Bill Caulfield-Brown over on LuLa - Returning to the Fold. 1/ IQ from the M9 is pretty damn good. 2/ It's much easier to carry an M9 all day than a lot of other full frame cameras 3/ Used with wider lenses, there are few cameras that beat the M9 4/ But the 135 A-T does a rather good job too. couldn't agree more. re carrying the M everywhere, a recent posting makes the point. I wouldn't have got these with a DSLR because I wouldn't have had it with me! ■ Christopher Tribble ■: Paris (again)

menos I M6 Posted March 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2011 I am rather young (according the comments on the article), but I do carry two M bodies with attached lens most of the days in my bag + the occasional third lens. If I would do this with DSLRs (as I did before using Leica) I would spend a lot of time at the chiropractor and little time actually taking pictures. My subjective impression is, that the technical quality of my photographs have improved, using Leica M lenses, the factor of actually enjoying photography has skyrocketed. ho_co Posted March 8, 2011 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2011 Thanks for the link, Chris. Good thing Caulfield-Brown doesn't spend much time reading this Forum, or he'd never have dared return to Leica.

Olsen Posted March 8, 2011 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went for a family trip from Oslo, Norway to Kiel, Germany a few weekends back. I knew I had to carry a toddler around a lot. The only sensible choice was to bring my M9 & WATE (and a 35 cron). All my camera gear could be stacked away in a corner of my suitcase and carried over the shoulder while walking around Kiel and on board the boat. A very pleasant trip at which the camera did not 'take over', but was there all the time. I am now a business trip to Helsinki, Finland (writing this from my hotel room at Marski). I brought my 1Ds III-24-70 mm 2,8L and a Orion Trekker with a 200 mm 2,8L, converter etc. It is as heavy as a carpenters tool box. I go by car (and ferry from Stockholm), so it is 'OK', but this heavy 1Ds III/24-70 mm 2,8L combo is heavy to carry around by strap over your shoulder. And with Silvio Berlusconi (last week) and US vice president Joe Biden (this week) in Helsinki at the same time, I do catch the attention from security and police.... It is no way you can be discrete with this combo. - Carrying it around for a week or two and you will become a gold mine for a chiropractician. BillCB Posted March 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted March 9, 2011 Thanks for the link, Chris. Good thing Caulfield-Brown doesn't spend much time reading this Forum, or he'd never have dared return to Leica. Actually I DO look at this forum most days! I never had a problem with my R4s, M6 or, now, M9. I've long been convinced that bad news gets more publicity than good news. If all the people who have had no problems were to write in, they'd swamp the reports of problems. Hope I haven't jinxed myself..... Bill
