paisatge Posted September 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wonder if anyone has experienced problem when shooting pictures consecutively (in single shot mode) and when the buffer is filled up, the camera just doesn't come back - that is, I can do anything like reviewing the pictures, etc. except taking pictures and the red LED keeps blinking. I'm quite sure it's not writing anything as I can see/review the last picture taken. It happened to me the second time today and the only way to get the camera back in working condition is to take out and re-insert the battery. Is this a known problem? dNorm Posted September 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 15, 2009 Have you tried using another fast memory card that has been formated in the camera? -Norm Wonder if anyone has experienced problem when shooting pictures consecutively (in single shot mode) and when the buffer is filled up, the camera just doesn't come back - that is, I can do anything like reviewing the pictures, etc. except taking pictures and the red LED keeps blinking. dpattinson Posted September 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2009 Was a widely reported problem with the M8, also noted in the M9 by Sean. Make sure your battery is not low, and in my experience avoid shooting DNG + jpeg if you want to shoot fast.

Yeah, I read Sean's M9 review and he did mention he experienced that in the continuous mode. Guess it happens in the single mode too with the M8. And so far, I've only shot in DNG only. While I don't normally shoot consecutively rapidly, it's certainly is a pain

It usually did coincide with a depleted battery though, so being overly cautious with battery changes might help.
35mmSummicron Posted September 18, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is a well documented problem with the M8/M8.2 on this forum. Unfortunately it seems that many people on the forum do not shoot in rapid succession so it is often dismissed or disregarded as an unimportant issue to resolve. It is a constant annoyance that I often run into as I like to use the M8 as a fashion photographer. There is a long thread on the M9 forum talking about this, since Sean Reid's review prompted some concern....still not conclusive if the M9 shares this flaw. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/98708-piece-bad-news-seans-m9-review.html I REALLY REALLY want Leica to solve this both for the M8 and potentially M9....hopefully its as easy as a firmware update. ps. I don't really like the low battery suggestion--if there's enough power to operate the camera, then ALL functions should work.
