pem Posted January 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all, I am a new owner of a M8. first of all I would like to thank you for the quality of this forum, for the quality of the information, and for the friendly athmosphere. I appreciate it a lot. Since I have just received my new M8, I am allowed to order 2 filters. For the moment I only one lens: a Summarit 35mm. Which means I need a E39 filter. I need your advise to know which second filter should I order. I know it depends on the lens I will buy, but I do not know yet what it will be. So I have to do a bet ;-) I think I will complement the 35mm by a wider lens (21mm or 25mm, from Leica or Zeiss) and may be a 75mm. And why not a 50mm (Leica or Zeiss) in the future. According to that, it seems that the E46 may be a good choice since the probability to get either another 39mm or a 46mm lens is high. Do you think it is a good choice or do you have any other advise. many thanks in advance, Pemo

Laki Posted January 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2009 hi pedro, and welcome, i would order only one and the second one as soon as you know which one you need, i once asked leica if that's possible and they told me it is.
akiralx Posted January 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 10, 2009 E46 is a good bet: I have 3, on the 28 Summicron, Zeiss 50 Sonnar, and 90 Elmarit.

artur5 Posted January 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 11, 2009 On a side note, remember that if you need a E43 filter you should use a Leica filter for a Leica lens and a non-Leica filter for any other brand of lens. The reason being that in E43 size ( and only E43) Leica uses a different pitch thread ( 0.5mm instead of the 0,75 mmm. used by Zeiss, Cosina and others ). Thus, Heliopan and BW E43 filters are 0.75mm. threaded fitting Zeiss and Cosina lenses but no Leica and the other way around, Leica E43 filters go only on Leica lenses. On the other hand how many Leica lenses use the E43 filter size? I'm only aware of the non-asph 50mm Summilux earlier versions. Len
