leolaksi Posted October 31, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted October 31, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been in Tokyo on business for the last few days and last night I went out and took a few photos with my M8 - Cron 35mm f/2. In one photograph there is a stray reflected image of the lamppost. The lamppost is on the left. The reflected image is on the right side pretty much where the eyes would be of the person closed to the camera. Any ideas? I have never seen this before. Advertisement Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Hi leolaksi, Take a look here stray reflected image in photo. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted October 31, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted October 31, 2008 This is an unfortunate result of having to use an IR filter on the lens with an M8. What you're seeing is a mirror image reflection of the bright street light caused by a reflection off the filter. Â Ideally, filters should be removed at night and this effect is a valid argument against those who say (including myself incidentally) that you can just fit and forget a filter on Leica M8 lenses. epand56 Posted October 31, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted October 31, 2008 Yes, got the same effect at a birthday with the cake candles reflecting everywhere. Had to take off the filter or could not shoot any clean picture.
