Advertisement Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Hi garygsandhu, Take a look here M8 and shutter lag/ delay. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted September 15, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 15, 2006 I expect the M8 to be extremely responsive - no autofocus, no auto-diaphragm, no mirror all of which slow things down. My guess is it will comfortably beat the D2X's 37mS.
sean_reid Posted September 16, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 16, 2006 In milliseconds....who knows? There is no shutter lag to speak of with this camera. Cheers, Sean
garygsandhu Posted January 5, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted January 5, 2009 To answer my own question, (more than 2 years later) is it 80 milliseconds?? See page 11 of 23 here: http://m.leica-camera.com/res/dnl/en/LEICA_M8_Folder_engl.pdf
BerndReini Posted January 5, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 5, 2009 In practical applications: faster than you and I can react to what's going on in front of the lens or as fast as you can push down the button, whatever takes longer.
erl Posted January 5, 2009 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2009 When it comes to using the camera, the lag does not exist. If you want to play with numbers, I don't have an answer.
Gabriel66 Posted January 5, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't find shutter delay in the pratical use , as a M7 or M6. Gabriele Gabriele Caproni Photography
E.M Posted January 5, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 5, 2009 I guess it 's a lot less than 80 ms , as the canon 5d has a lag of 75 ms, and that is why I never bought one. canon 1 d series have a lag around 50 ms. Nikons are even faster. The small shutterlag is one of the reasons I like m-leicas. Etienne Michiels
SJP Posted January 5, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 5, 2009 I once tried measuring it using this: Shooting Digital : Ed Schwartz : Shutter Release Test Basically it was zero.
marknorton Posted January 5, 2009 Share #10 Posted January 5, 2009 To answer my own question, (more than 2 years later) is it 80 milliseconds?? See page 11 of 23 here: http://m.leica-camera.com/res/dnl/en/LEICA_M8_Folder_engl.pdf Interesting information later in the document on how the weight of the M8 is made up. Plus a quote from/picture of Carsten.
