epand56 Posted May 27, 2014 Share #1  Posted May 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I've got a new CV 21/1.8. I'm totally astonished by this lens. I did a quick try with the lens uncoded. I will code it as a Summilux 21/1.4 tomorrow. This is the untouched picture and a close up at 100% on the M240, 1600 Iso. No magenta cast in the corners at all. Its just amazing.  Welcome, dear visitor! zlatkob Posted May 27, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted May 27, 2014 Looks like a great lens!
alan.y Posted May 28, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted May 28, 2014 And it focuses down to 0.5m!
epand56 Posted May 28, 2014 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 28, 2014 Yes, even if at 0.5 it is not rangefinder coupled and you have to focus by moving the camera back and forth. Anyway, a superb lens, also given its price.
viramati Posted May 28, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted May 28, 2014 I have to agree it is an impressive lens and for the price (compared to the leica 24/1.4) a real bargain. It also performs really well on the Sony A7 where I probably use it most. On the Sony with the close-up adaptor in focuses down to .3m !!
alan.y Posted May 29, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted May 29, 2014 Enrico and David: do you know if the built-in lens hood would accommodate a 62mm filter mounted with a 58-62 step-up ring? From pics it seems not... Â David: do you use the Voigtlander VM-E close-focus adapter, a Hawk's, or something else? Â Thanks!

From pics it seems not... Â Alan, the diameter between the two shortest wings of the hood is 65 mm. I don't know the diameter of 58-62 step-up ring, but, unless it's smaller than 63 mm, I fear it can't fit.
alan.y Posted June 14, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted June 14, 2014 Enrico, just wanted to let you know i ended up also getting the ultron and in fact a step up ring to 62mm does fit! Now i have uniform 62mm front threads on several lenses.
Peter H Posted June 18, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted June 18, 2014 I received mine yesterday and my first impressions are extremely positive. Also, it's far smaller than I imagined it would be. Not small in absolute terms compared with most Leica lenses, but still less hefty than I thought and very comfortable to use, and my very early impressions of its output are very favourable indeed. Using it indoors in low light was a revelation for me, in terms of this focal length. I particularly appreciate fast lenses because I do a lot of work inside, of all sorts of performances and public events, and a fast wide-angle will be very helpful and even though it won't be my most used lens, I'm confident it will be valuable to me. Â What filter would you recommend for this lens? I really want some protection for the front element. I also gather that it's not advisable to use an UV cut filter for such a wide lens. Is this your experience?
