biglouis Posted November 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It has been so long since I used film that I forgot about not overwinding. I congratulated myself on getting 40 captures but then when I tried to rewind the film tore out of the cannister. Tried to get the film out in my darkroom (downstairs loo with no window) but after 10 frustrating minutes, gave up, FFF. But at least I've learned my lesson. Doc Henry Posted November 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2009 Hi Louis, Sorry for your problem I always kept " a foot " in my film laboratory and I did not forget... if the film went out of the roll, it is finished and it is damage... I have a black bag to take out my film in broad daylight, very practical Nice pictures in your book...

I used to have a black changing bag and a load of developing stuff but I think I lost it in a house move. I'd love to find that stufff again because it was so useful. I think I'll have to buy a new one. LouisB

tobey bilek Posted November 7, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2009 Pull the rewind tulip out with the film. Remember it will be emulsion out Look for any missing film pieces around the sprocket holes. You MUST find them before they get into the shutter tracks. They will eventually jam it. biglouis Posted November 8, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted November 8, 2009 Doc, that is beautiful. I think we have agreed in threads elsewhere that Elmar-M 90 is a spectacular lens. Tobey, thanks for the tip. Just checked the film and it is intact so no bits missing but at least I know to check thoroughly in the future.
