Advertisement Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi eronald, Take a look here Comparison of 21 Elmarit Aspheric/ Non aspheric. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jonoslack Posted January 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi There I'm sorry I can't help, but I'd be interested in what everyone else thinks. I guess that the general concensus is that the Asph is a lot better, but I just got a secondhand (1990) non Asph, and it seems very nice to me! cardinal Posted January 11, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 11, 2007 I used to own the pre-asph 21, a 1979 model with E60 threads and my discovery was that the lens was a little soft in the center. The contrast compared to the current 21 well lets just say the current 21 blows it away. I posted 3 pics for you, all shot with Delta 100 and I hope these examples show just a little what this lens can do.

Lovely shots, and I don't doubt you for a moment - but wasn't the 21-M introduced in 1980? so there was another model between 1980 and 1997 when the aspherical was introduced? cardinal Posted January 12, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2007 John, I do not have that lens anymore so maybe it was made in 1980. The model I had was built from 1980 to 1997 then the asph. model was released in 1997. Hope I did not confuse you.
