Advertisement Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Hi stevelap, Take a look here DSMC M Mount. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stevelap Posted November 6, 2011 Author Share #2 Posted November 6, 2011 Quite a lot of interest in these over in RED land, it seems that many motion people are Leica aficionados. Of course the Summilux C's have caused a stir too.........
jtorrents Posted November 6, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 6, 2011 My main videocámara is a Panasonic Af100, shooting all with m lenses. I'm in love with the preasph, 35 summicron and 50 summilux. All done vía metabones adapter
giordano Posted November 6, 2011 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2011 It looks as if it's mechanically very different from Leica's own. There's no sign of the leaf springs that hold the lens against the flange. I wonder if the locking ring provides a positive lock in place of the spring-loading (in addition to working the normal locking pin).

All done vía metabones adapter I might not have retired if we had gone to the Panasonic Af100. Wonderful system. Have you tried the Voigtlander 25mm F/.95 (native 4/3 mount)? jtorrents Posted November 6, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 6, 2011 Haven't tryed the Voightlander yet.. But I'm really impressed with the footage quality with Leica glass. This little camera with good lenses is an incredible tool. I've also managed to mount a Tele elmar 135 with Visoflex and Bellows II. With the obvious differences, it reminds me a good old 16 mm Bolex cine camera... Welcome, dear visitor! *j-w-m* Posted November 7, 2011 Share #7 Posted November 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I considered M lenses and the AF100 but couldn't figure out a good way to adapt them for follow focus. Do you have a solution? I ended up with a Sony F3 and Leica R lenses adapted to Nikon mount instead. Current set is 15/19/24/35/50/80/100. I tested a P&S Technik M adapter for the F3 but the ergonomics of the lens (too small to operate easily) steered me toward the Rs instead.
jtorrents Posted November 7, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 7, 2011 The focus tab on some lenses dificults or make imposible to use a Follow focus. One of my favourite lens, the Summilux 50 preasph, lacks this tab, so is perfect for the job. With other lenses, I don't mount the FF. I also use really cheap Olympus OM lenses, and I must say that they are also very good.
pico Posted November 7, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 7, 2011 The focus tab on some lenses dificults or make imposible to use a Follow focus. [...] We should find a way around that obstacle. Did I show you my gear that fits over the Summilux 35mm (Version 2)? It's a 'steer' like assist. It works, but is not a standard follow-focus gear. Picture of it here. jtorrents Posted November 7, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 7, 2011 Pico, I'm reluctant to modify my M lenses. I know that it could be an easy task for any repair man, but I prefer to not to touch it. A few days ago, I tested some 16 mm Arri lenses. Obviously, they vignetted a lot in the AF100, but for my surprise, a good 50 mm not vignetted. So I discovered that the focus tab were mounted to the lens with two little screws. A few minutes later, I was shooting with the lens and the follow focus... Pico, I would be very happy to see your gear! Regards, Joaquin
pico Posted November 7, 2011 Share #11 Posted November 7, 2011 OK, Joaquin, I put a link to the device in my post. Really, it is just to help me grasp the Summilux or push it with a finger using something other than the tab. I've somewhat damaged hands and make these things up as I need them. PS: My childhood nickname was Joaquin for a while.
jtorrents Posted November 7, 2011 Share #12 Posted November 7, 2011 I also have some lens gears (0'8 pitch) so I can mount them on the lens and use it as an extension of the focus tab. Being longer than the focus tab, it requires less effort to move the focus barrel. But nothing as a good Arri follow focus... So, What happened to your childhood name? you can always return to use a beautiful name! Regards, Joaquin

I was nicknamed as a little kid by some Hispanic friends, then we moved out of state. It is indeed a beautiful sounding name. My real first name nickname is a confusion to some. I won't get into it now.
