I'm on a business trip in Kuala Lumpur and saw a brand new Noctilux in a shop in today. I have no affiliation with the store btw. Serial number is 4118010 which seems like a new one.

I thought I'd share it here if someone is looking for one. I would have picked it up myself if it wasn't 2650 pounds more expensive than the UK MSRP. I decided it is not worth it especially since I've paid to be on the wait list of a UK premier leica dealer.

Leica prices in Asia seems more expensive that the UK. I talked to the store manager and he said the UK price is less than their cost even though he is getting the lens from Leica Singapore directly. They are asking 42,000 Malaysian Ringgits for the lens.

The store name is Pixel camera and it is located in the basement of Pavilion Shopping center in Kuala Lumpur. I had a pleasant chat with the store manager, Kelvin, and told him I'll post about it on the forum. Their contact phone number is 03-21416486 and the email is pixelpavilion(-at-)hotmail(-dot-)com. If you pick it up, let him know you knew about it from this forum.

It is so unfair that some Leica dealers are getting away with charging ABOVE retail for 'new' items. The same can be said about some dealers that 'held onto' the M9 Titanium, and are now selling for $10k+ more than retail.

The store staff said this is the MSRP set to them by Leica Singapore. I didn't take into account the UK VAT when I made the comparison because I made the order for the Noctilux with a UK deale online and it would be shipped outside the EU. The price I was quoted by the UK dealer is 6100 pounds btw.

I love it - Capitalism veiled, strong-armed by VAT and others who want your money without working for it.

stopped by again today to see if they can develop my film rolls in the same day. Turns out they send them to another lab so it takes 3 days which is no good since my flight is after tomorrow. They also have a silver 50f1.4 summilux ASPH at about 700 pounds above UK MSRP price. Seems that they are waiting for a customer to travel from another town to pick the noctilux up.

I knew camera gear is generally more expensive on this side of the planet, but I did not image i would be that expensive. It's sad that the only store that ever had the lenses I want in stock is so over priced that I couldn't justify over paying that much for them.
