A miller Posted January 30, 2015 Share #2964 Posted January 30, 2015 Jip - that's totally "cool" (pun intended) I actually like the blue color as well as I think it offsets nicely with the orange and yellow in the sky, which are opposite ends of the color wheel and naturally complimentary. I just was wondering whether you intended it as in my workflow thee blues creep in to the file uninvited due to the scanning, which is quite normal an fixable, if one desires. It is a lovely image!
wattsy Posted January 30, 2015 Share #2965 Posted January 30, 2015 Normally for C41, I send them to either AG Photo or Peak Processing and then scan the negs on my V700. However, my latest roll of Portra 160 I sent to the UK Film Lab (impressive web site). In return for my £15, I was sent a link to download the results of their dev/scan service. These turn out to be circa 6Mb .jpg's, supposedly sized to give a 16" x 12" print. Need to give some thought as to whether or not I will use them again. Not wishing to de-rail the thread (I've added a BW400CN photo from the autumn to keep the pictures flowing:D) but I'm interested in your thoughts on the UK Film Lab scans, Keith. Do you feel they are a step up from the kind of scans you might get back from AG or Peak? I suppose I ought to give them a whirl but I'm slightly more put off by their policy of holding the negs than I am by the cost. If the scans are clean and sharp (I don't mind that they are 6MB JPEGs) I'd be willing to put up with the inconvenience of not having the negs to hand.
