carlmuck Posted November 22, 2009 Share #1 Â Posted November 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm hoping I'm just very unlucky with my SD card, but I think not as it worked well in my M8 and is a good quality one (Lexar "Premium Series" class 4 sent to me by LFI when I subscribed). Â Here's the situation, I've got a new M9 (picked up Friday). Took it with me to my daughter's forensics tournament yesterday. On loading the photos into Lightroom this morning 6 of the 83 images have a very ugly artifact: Â (all 6 images are here: Zenfolio | ArchieandHubert | M9 File problem) Â I reformatted the card and took 10 images of my backyard and one exhibits the same problem. Â I originally thought it may have been a problem on import, but the problem image this morning was seen just after capture, in camera. Â I changed to a new card (SanDisk Extreme Class 6) and 20 images are on it without problem (so far). Â Has anyone seen such a problem? I'm giving the camera a week (get through Thanksgiving) before I consider sending it in for repair. Â c.

AlanJW Posted November 22, 2009 Share #2 Â Posted November 22, 2009 The lack of problems with a different card would strongly suggest that this is a card problem and not a camera problem. By the way did you reformat the first card in the M9 before you used it?

By the way did you reformat the first card in the M9 before you used it? Â Yes, and I'll note that the M9 takes longer to format cards than the M8. Â I too hope that it is the card, but the way the images are all failing in the same regions makes me wonder if it is a read-out problem. If it was simply media, I'd expect un-readable files or random image glitches. Â One last detail, all the problem images are uncompressed DNGs (not that that should matter). Â c. carlmuck Posted November 22, 2009 Author Share #4 Â Posted November 22, 2009 Interestingly, took 14 images, using compressed DNG and no issues, then took 12 uncompressed DNG and low and behold 3 of them exhibit the problem. Â c.

Do you mean there are still corrupted files with sandisk sd card? If so, there will be no option apart from sending it to solm for check up... chrism Posted November 22, 2009 Share #6 Â Posted November 22, 2009 If the Lexar card has the problem, and the Sandisk doesn't I would keep using the Sandisk for the rest of the weekend, and if it still doesn't show up for that card it is most likely a problem with the Lexar. Obviously, if it happens, even once, with the Sandisk, the camera must be at fault. Â Chris Yes, for the picky amongst you, I am discounting the possibility that two could simultaneously develop the same fault.
