Mauribix Posted June 14, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Folks! I've seen a new Toy surfing on HK Supplies... I have seen a 0,85x magnifier, if I am not wrong I should be able to frame (with tolerance) on my M8 with the CV15 using the RF (as someone did with the 21 ASPH)! and ishould be able to frame better using the 21ASPH without its viewfinder... Is it true?Have you made experiments on this? And how does it fit? Is the RF too little to focus if I should ever use a WATE or 21ASPH?I know that the Leica viewfinder is the best choice, but sometime, somehow, i need the most compact combo....It seems to be this. Suggestions?Impressions? Best Regards Maurizio MAURIZIO BEUCCI.com - Official web site

Shootist Posted June 14, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 14, 2007 From what I've heard it really doesn't work that well and only make the viewfinder and rangefinder patch smaller. It really doesn't expand the area of what you are viewing like a .58x viewfinder does over the .68 & .72 of the M8/M7. The 21mm, and especially the 15mm, FOV would still be way outside the area the viewfinder covers.
carstenw Posted June 14, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted June 14, 2007 If less than the view of a 21mm lens makes it through the viewfinder, I don't know how adding a 0.85x magnifier to the back end could get a wider view out? What is this thing for, actually?

What is this thing for, actually? Â Something I could never figure out. Actually it has been on their website and listed on eBay for a few months now. I even thing there is a disclaimer on their website saying that it doesn't expand the FOV at all. Which is correct because how could it.
carstenw Posted June 14, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted June 14, 2007 I guess it must be for people who have to use glasses and can't see the full view.
Skippy Sanchez Posted June 14, 2007 Share #6  Posted June 14, 2007 I guess it must be for people who have to use glasses and can't see the full view.  i bought one several months back because i wear glasses and was extremely disappointed.  #1- it doesn't thread into the finder very well at all  #2- while it might, technically, 'expand' the view, the thing extends so back of the regular eyepiece it is even worse for glasses-wearers.  #3- it's harder to focus.  so if anyone wants to try one, i'll sell you mine for $2.oo.
