Summicron 2/50 Rigid CLA

This are some picts taken some years ago while dismantling a Summicron 2/50 Rigid as the owner had difficulties using the focusing ramp, he drops some oil (3in1) in the threaded parts but this does not resolve anything as oil do not help in threaded working parts.

The lens head is easily dismounted/unscrewed on the Summicron 2/50 Rigid.

so after it is has been remoded remains the mechanical part.

After removing the internal plate and the screws, the two parts can be unscrewed.

The picts shows the mud (oil+residues of original grease and dirt)

These picts shows after cleaning with solvent and dried and before to be lubricated and remounted

Using anything but proper lubricants on optical devices is very dangerous, because some oils may 'migrate' and spread throughout the mechanism and optics to place they should never reach...

So true.

The worst advice I've ever red was one who suggested that a Summitar be disassembled, then the threads lubricated with graphite powder. That stuff is like a nano-contaminate. It migrates into everything. Very bad move.
