Photoskeptic Posted November 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) A friend recently inheirited an R4 (I think!, it says R-E on the body, but there is an invoice for an R4). It came with a nice 28 Elmarit and a35-70. Everything is mint. There is also an Angeneiux 70-210. Anyone know anything about this lens?

mirror Posted November 5, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2008 There is also an Angeneiux 70-210. Anyone know anything about this lens? I have only read quite fine grading on Angenieux zoom performance generally. Only style and lighter weight construction compared to Leica have been negative point to someone - and positive as well to some others. gvaliquette Posted November 5, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2008 There is also an Angeneiux 70-210. Anyone know anything about this lens? I do have this lens and LOVE IT! It is just as good as the Vario-Elmar 80-200mm f4.0 and has a wider maximum aperture. The polycarbonate barrel feels funny at first if you are used to the Leica lenses feel, but it is lighter than metal. The only negative that I can find to it is that the zoom ring is at the front of the barrel and the focus ring is closer to the body. Otherwise, a wonderful lens. Guest Posto 6 Posted November 5, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2008 Fantastic lens, very easy to handle once you get used to it. Be somewhat gentle with it, however, as the policarbonate rotatingling grips can crack quite easily with impact (it is then cheaper to replace the lens than repair it).
