rob_x2004 Posted December 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got a new APX-400 bulk out of the freezer. I am used to seeing either a mid or lighter grey. The new stuff (top, APX-100 below) has a really blue hue and seems to be on a new substrate. Looks, feels really nice. Totally weird though. For fifty five feet, it looks fifteen. Ive never seen such a small roll, like someone rolled fifteen feet instead of fifteen metres, but its in a small pouch so whoever rolled it knew what they were doing. I guess it is the PET(?) base I have heard about. Seems very strong and I cant tear the leader with my teeth in pinch. Anyone know much about it? Im down to my last five hundred feet of the 400iso and this is the first I have seen of it, but presume the remainder are all the same. Colour balance is off, jsut imagine glacier melt grey blue. .....
Advertisement Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hi rob_x2004, Take a look here APX users, anyone seen this version?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sbelyaev Posted December 20, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2009 There are 2 (35mm) versions of APX400: APX400 and APX400s (used for surveillance). The latter one has a different base. MF (120) version of APX400 appears to be a completely a different film. It has dark gray-green surface.
rob_x2004 Posted December 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 21, 2009 This is a third kind. Ive not seen it before. I still have thirty meter spooled roll of TS (surveillance). This blue one is definitly not the APX-400 or its old base I am used to. Wondering whether it is the precursor to something Rollei, or the use up of chemicals on PET.
