holmes Posted December 19, 2009 Share #1 Â Posted December 19, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) While picking through the reputable dealers I've done business with I came across a little gem. I've been debating for some time to forgo any glass in the 50 mm range. I have Leica's little gem M 50 f 2.5 and mounted on an M6TTL 0.58 does a very nice job. But macro photography is a passion, so in the last couple of weeks to last Thursday I picked up a like new Elpro 3 for my R 90 f 2. The Elpro was still wrapped in its factory wrapping and the box looked as never to have been open. Then this past Thursday I spotted a like-new R 60 f 2.8 macro with caps and case. That gives a reproduction figure of 1:2, or in other words half size. Of course the f 2.8 can serve very well as a standard lens. So I figure myself lucky in adding more good glass to my case. andybarton Posted December 19, 2009 Share #2  Posted December 19, 2009 I have had one for a few years now, and it's one of the first lenses I converted for use with my Nikon D700  It's a superb lens, both for normal work and for macro. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one.  D700:  http://www.andybarton.com/2009/mediafiles/l38.jpg  R8/DMR:  http://www.andybarton.com/2007/mediafiles/l90.jpg  http://www.andybarton.com/2007/mediafiles/l92.jpg  http://www.andybarton.com/2007/mediafiles/l132.jpg
SteveYork Posted December 19, 2009 Share #3 Â Posted December 19, 2009 There are some "classic" R lenses, and the 60mm Macro is one of them.
miami91 Posted December 19, 2009 Share #4 Â Posted December 19, 2009 Incidentally, last time I checked their site, this lens is still available brand new, with warranty, from SH Photo. Â Jeff.
albada60 Posted December 22, 2009 Share #5 Â Posted December 22, 2009 Great choice! Flat field .. rich colours ... and in my experience best overall performance from f5.6. In comparison with my 90mm Elmarit-R (version 1) with Elpro, the 60mm has the edge. In comparison with my 65mm Elmar (black) in the real close-up range the 65mm has the extra bite.
