holmes Posted August 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Leitz right angle finder arrived today. For those who don't know, a right angle finder allows for looking straight down, corrected and reversed. It has a 2 power adjustment switch and of course detailed adjustment. It is plastic except for the glass (I think). It was made in Japan and I have what I guess is the original box. Here's the label: Leitz, fur/for/pour Leica R4/R4-MOT and Leicaflex SL/SL2. The product number is 14 328. There is also another finder listed for the R3/R3-MOT, number 14 329. Down in the corner are those magical words: made in Japan. The box has Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GMBH on three sides. There are two pieces of pre-cut sponge rubber to fit. I briefly tried it on both my R7 and my 6.2s. It works, but this is definitely for use with a tripod. I tried it on my R 90 f 2.

Some have a prong for fitting in the hotshoe; others slide on the viewfinder (after the original eyecup has been removed). The latest version (which works for the R8/R9 and I think some earlier R cameras) is code 14300. I sometimes use mine just for the sake of its 2X magnifier, as an aid to focus in difficult situations.
