enty Posted July 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) This might be a silly question, but I've got a new summicron 50mm and will soon be buying a new summicron 28 too for use on my M8.2. I assume they will work on ALL M bodies, including the older film-bodies (M7, M6 etc), but am I correct in this assumption?
Advertisement Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi enty, Take a look here are lenses backwards-compatible?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SJP Posted July 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 31, 2009 Yes, although some focal lengths may be inconvenient to frame on the older M3 and M2, due to the limited set of fraimlines. In those cases you could use an additional viewfinder. Rangefinder focussing as such should work fine.
Finnkare Posted July 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 31, 2009 I guess the only "contemporary" lens that is not completely backward-compatible is the collapsible Elmar-M 50/2.8, which cannot be collapsed into the M5 or CL. But it's not in production anymore.
