mmk60 Posted July 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2009 Leica does not ship a hood with the Summarit 75. Has anyone had experiences with flares on this lens without the hood? I do not believe that the hood comes with the lens. I bought one through eBay cheap. cheers
wda Posted July 7, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 7, 2009 Leica does not ship a hood with the Summarit 75. Has anyone had experiences with flares on this lens without the hood? If you have the lens I suggest you try it in the environment in which you normally work. Your test will confirm your need or not. For me, there was no question. There is no natural hooding and with a filter attached light will encroach from many angles. Secondly, the metal hood does give good extra protection to the front of a very good lens. I would say it is well worth buying a hood.
akiralx Posted July 7, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2009 I just bought a hood for mine, and whatever the benefits it does change the lens from being compact to 75 Summicron sized. I suspect I will use it pretty sparingly.

Photon42 Posted July 7, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 7, 2009 I don't think, the hood is strictly necessary. At least for me I did not use the hood very often and didn't regret it. Regards Ivo
