film cassettes for m7?

Any standard one will fit, but the metal ones with DX coding are necessary to read ISO automatically.

I use Kalt brand.

In a related note, the early M7 had a mechanical ISO reader that grabs the film canister so tightly as to make removal very difficult.

It can be changed out for the later optical reader, a procedure I'd recommend as it's pretty easy to pull the bulk loading canisters apart.

whether mine is old or not i can't determine, as i have not found

the serial # listing as you find with m6, & other m's.

my m7 is #2784xxx.

Mine is close, 2786xxx and it didn't have the optical reader. It is likely yours has the mechanical type, which appear as pins that stick out very slightly into the film chamber. The pic below shows the optical reader together with the added washer on the bottom plate locking mechanism.

Kalts will fit. Buy a carton of 100 for $60 and they are all clean.

The old Leica brass film cassettes which do not use felt will not fit. Therefore my M6`s are the last ones I will buy.

BTW, the current plastic ones which I prefer will not work in screw mt, M or R cameras. I get to exposure 10 or 12 and they refuse to feed in any for my many Leica cameras. I have no idea why.
