Trough Leica webite I saw model and order number, Leica Uva Filter E55 Order No 13373, I gave all details to him. I've taken one in USA it is called Leica Filter UVa DC E55, Order Number 18670. What are the differences between them? What do the letters DC stands for? peter_n Posted April 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2009 Annibale you could eliminate the angst by getting a B+W 55mm filter. The B+W has MRC (multi resistant coated) glass and although there is good glass in Leica filters they are single coated and not resistant coated. Traditionally B+W have made filters with brass rings and they are almost as expensive as Leica filters but they have begun quietly selling cheaper filters in Asia that use the same glass but set in aluminum rings. These filters are distinguished from the brass filters by having the filter identification information printed on the outside of the ring. B+W brass filters have the info on a thin outward facing lip on the inside of the ring. Here is an example. I have bought from this vendor and these are genuine B+W filters, no question. The free shipping takes about 2-3 weeks and email communication from the vendor is excellent. I recommend them. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I did so last week with a question on the coating of their UV filters and got an answer back in a couple of days. You can find their email address on the Leica website. Having said that, their website shows filter #18670 as a UVa filter for the V-LUX 1 and filter #13373 as a UVa filter for the M system (both E55). Further, B&H Photo (not the B+W filter people) sell both and (interestingly) show a picture of the 13373 filter on their web page for the 18670 filter. And even more interestingly sells the 13373 for $21 less! I suspect (but don't know) the only difference is the labeling on the package and/or the filter itself. Let us know what you find out!
