I purchased a Digilux 2 the first year it came out. I was a big poster of pictures on this site and this camera has been awesome in it's picture quality for all these years. I also think it takes a better picture than my Nikon D-80 under many conditions.

However it has recently suffered a major failure, screen showing a solarized image and a failure to record to the card.

I live outside Vancouver, Canada and am looking for a good repair facility. My warranty is of course expired, but I will pay what ever necessary to bring it back to life!

Any input as to a good repair Leica repair facilility would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Thomas:(

Thomas--

I don't know of anyone other than the Leica distributor.

I'm sure you're aware that some of the Digilux 2s had defective Sony sensors. Sony is replacing these sensors free to Leica, and Leica is replacing them free to the customer.

Your camera may or may not have the bad sensor, and if it is showing write problems, that would be an additional issue.

I'd send it off to Leica for an estimate.

Thomas,

I am sure that you venture to Vancouver from the winter wonderland at Whistler sometimes..... Take the camera to Lens and Shutter or to Leo's Cameras and have them asses the problem. I am certain that you have a failed sensor - this should be covered under an extended warranty and repaired by Leica N/C.

Unfortunately, the camera has to go to New Jersey - I am sure that the store you bought the Digilux 2 from could handle it for you. Or, you can do what I did with my sick Digilux 2 - pack it up, drive to Point Roberts (or Bellingham) and mail it yourself.

Best,

Jan
