Advertisement Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Hi cardinal, Take a look here Attention Leica O Shooters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
abrewer Posted October 21, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2006 Nice shots, Bill. You've reminded me that I still have a piece of paper in my pocket with directions to my own little project in this regard. I'll have to try and work on that this weekend if the good weather can hold out for another day or two. Thanks for sharing. Allan
cardinal Posted October 21, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted October 21, 2006 Thanks Allan, most of those photos were taken on a cloudy day.
rob_x2004 Posted October 21, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2006 Hey the third just gets me....but I would have liked to see what the frame looks like up almost level to the shed. Maybe even ghosted with a slow shutter. I have a truck shot similar. Well, different environment but... Nice stuff. Sorry, Iv'e no big 'O'
kdemas Posted October 21, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2006 Here are a few from my O Series with the "gun sight" finder. There are form a roll that are not particularily inspired or unique but the 2nd one shows the one issue you can have with the "O", framing issues. In fairness I do not use it enough to really have a great feel for the camera and finder. I am sure if I used it all the time it wouldn't be a big deal. Anyway, I love mine... a really beautiful camera and fun to use. Kent Welcome, dear visitor! kdemas Posted October 21, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 21, 2006 PS- The way the posting was done it is actually the 1st image that shows the framing problem.
kdemas Posted October 22, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 22, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Same roll, made me laugh. This was a quick snap when I turned around and saw this guy with the O so the crop of his legs is a little unfortunate. Yup, you guessed it, it's from San Francisco KD Welcome, dear visitor! tobey bilek Posted October 22, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 22, 2006 The SD45 TIRR is about 35 years old and still going strong. Wiaconsin Central still has some also. Where are all the coal drags going? BNSF hauls from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming to Wisconsin thru my town. These things are impressive. 125 cars and a mile long pulled by two 4500 hp locos. Have you put a BL finder on the "O" series?
richam Posted October 22, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 22, 2006 Bill, Kent, Enjoyed the images, especially the last one. As you mention, the O serie is a bit difficult to use until you get used to it. It takes a bit of perseverance, but the results can be rewarding. I'll post a couple of flubs to illustrate this point. Flub #1, The O has a long strap and a lens cap on a string. In even a slight breeze, this can ruin a frame: Welcome, dear visitor! The folding finder takes a bit of getting used to and can result in incorrect framing very easily. But if you stick with it, good results are possible: All with Ilford Delta 100. Taken in Frankfurt, Germany.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Flub #2. cardinal Posted October 22, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted October 22, 2006 Kent I like those shots great exposure. I could not tell about the framing issues but that is probably because I have never been there. Michael I really like that last night shot. What did you do hold the shutter button down for 2 seconds or whatever. I have tried night shots but I have had a hard time with it. Here is a goof up shot, forgot to put the lens cap on before advancing the film. I just remembered it while the train rolled by. Oh well, it is a fun little camera though. Welcome, dear visitor! kdemas Posted October 22, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 22, 2006 I have a number of shots with the "white stripe of death" as well. I have yet to be treated to the cap string getting in the way I really do love the look of shots taken with the Anistigmat, to the point I planted the seed with Stefan Daniel last year that they should produce that little baby in M mount. It just has a little "something" about it. That night shot is really something special given there is no "remote release" on the camera. I have yet to try that. Kent ps- #3 from the initial posting is really very nice!
square_one Posted October 23, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 23, 2006 Bill, Allen, Kent, Michael - Got my O prototype2 back in August and the initial test rolls showed intermittant white-out along right vertical edges (not a cap-off thing) at all speeds but 50th. Counter ring was also not linked properly to film advance. Unbelievable and a first after 38 years with Leicas!! Sent it right off to Solms Warranty and just got it back three days ago, so I can now re-enter the learning curve (once I get this sprained ankle unsprained). Oh - The test images were wonderful and I feel the framing tube will prove quite accurate once I get the slight excesses around the finder margins figured out. I'll post something when I'm in the groove (and figure how the hell to post and image on the forum via my iMac). Bruce
richam Posted October 23, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 23, 2006 Bill, I had the camera resting on a bridge railing that was fairly flat and held it steady and firm with my left hand while I released the shutter. This was the best of 4 images that I bracketed, and I beleive it was the "one thousand and two" exposure. Just counted the seconds in my head. pico Posted March 7, 2018 Share #16 Posted March 7, 2018 I am still plowing through the photo junk-drawers looking for the correct film cutting guide. I suspect my mate hid it since seeing me using it with a razor to trim for a IIIG. My tremor concerns her. I'll wear gloves if she tells me where it is. algrove Posted May 8, 2023 Share #17 Posted May 8, 2023 Just secured one today in Munich. Will try to expose a roll in the next few days and MUST get it developed while in Europe before returning home to the USA. Any help in finding a developer in Zurich?
