Advertisement Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Hi jamriman, Take a look here What is this prismed edge for?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
richedg Posted November 25, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2008 HI I had a look at my copy of the Macro adaptor. It also has a small slice off the glass that looks like a prism. So it is not a mistake on your copy. It may be a necessary part of the magnifier for the rangefinder system? Cheers Richard

marknorton Posted November 25, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2008 The purpose of this lens is to magnify the image slightly and shift the image up and to the left; the lens is mounted at an angle in the frame and the reason for the chamfered corner is to prevent the corner of the lens protruding above the level of the frame so that it doesn't interfere with the camera when mounted. Thanks, I never noticed it before (just checked on my Macro adapter), but with the explanation it all makes sense.
jamriman Posted November 25, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted November 25, 2008 Not too keen on that large hood? For $20 you can't go wrong. They have a very good rep. I love their 24/28mm hoods. Nice and compact. Metal 39mm Screw-In Hood for Leica 90mm 135mm & Cap E39 - eBay (item 140267743892 end time Dec-15-08 09:23:58 PST)
